University of Warwick Drumming Society

What is Drum Soc?

Warwick Drumming Society is a collective of Students, staff and friends, who meet regularly to perform, socialise, learn and enjoy playing percussion and kit. We play a wide range of styles, from samba to drum and bass, or latin to funk, and are most well known for our performance group Drumestra, lead by professional tutor Dave Barrett, who practice weekly and are often seen about Warwick university campus, or Coventry playing to audiences. If you would like to book us for a gig or social event, please contact us.

Phone Rob on 07717 696 067 or OJ on 07905 103 201 or use our Contact Page.

What is DRUMESTRA!?

DRUMESTRA! is a weekly drumming and samba high energy meet, taken by professional tutor Dave Barrett, meeting every Tuesday evening, during term-time, from 5:30 to 7:00, in Cafe Westwood. Having started with taster classes at the end of the 2006/7 academic year, it took off on a regular basis at the start of the 2007/8 year. The group plays samba, samba reggae, funk, hip-hop and other south american grooves. All instruments are provided, but if you have your own, then bring them with you, but most of all ... COME ALONG!

Steel Pans

The Music Centre has recently imported some brand new steel pans, Dave Barrett will be teaching a new group, we are planning to commence this from the start of the new academic year, but please contact us NOW if you are interested.

The Steel Pan section will be playing gigs with the Samba Drummers, so we welcome new members to this section.
